*Join the York County Republican Committee (YCRC) is the best first step to get involved.


*Be a poll worker is a volunteer position and works outside the polling area/precinct greeting voters and passing out literature. The shifts are flexible.


* Be a poll watcher/observer is a volunteer representative of the Republican party to observe the polls inside and its operations during early voting and on election day, with the volunteer hours being flexible. Poll watchers can work as many hours as they wish. Training is required and proof of training is mandatory to receive a Poll Watcher Letter of Authorization from the County Chairman, per Virginia Code 24.2-604.


*Be a Precinct Captain. As a precinct captain you will be responsible to build a team of area volunteers/neighbors/family who are available to help get out the vote and on election day to work outside the polls (poll worker) handing out campaign literature and palm cards. You may also want to host meet and greets with the candidates in your neighborhood.


*Be a District Leader helps to recruit Precinct Captains. They organize the captains in their district for door knocking and phone banking events to GOTV. As a leader you make sure your precinct captains have enough literature, signs, sample ballots etc. Plan on attending Election Integrity seminars and share your knowledge with your district precincts.


*Be an Election Official. An Election Official is a paid position, works inside the polling location on election day (not for early voting) and must attend the required training provided by the Board of Elections. The hours are from 5:00 am till 8:30-9:00 pm and you must be able to work the entire day. It is a long day but it is always a fun day!
